We are delighted to share that MicroLoan Malawi was selected as one of the semi-finalists in the European Microfinance Award 2023 on ‘Inclusive Finance for Food Security & Nutrition.’ This prestigious award highlights organisations working in financial inclusion that aim to safeguard access to quality and affordable food for vulnerable populations and to increase resilience of sustainable food systems.
As the second largest microfinance institution in Malawi based on active client numbers, MicroLoan Malawi has developed an effective model and strong infrastructure. Our high touch model is delivered from 22 branches and eight satellites by over 100 field staff who live in the communities they serve. Clients take ownership of their own learning and centre leaders lead training sessions supported by the MicroLoan field staff. This local expertise increases the clients’ chances of creating sustainable livelihoods, as local solutions and opportunities are incorporated.
With support from external funders, including Grameen Credit Agricole (GCA) Foundation and Appui au Développement Autonome (ADA), MicroLoan Malawi is well positioned to continue to grow its outreach in rural communities over the coming years.
We are proud of our colleagues in Malawi for their outstanding work in facilitating access to quality and affordable food among our clients.
